Scope of work
Slab selection, shop fabrication of a live-edge mantel with matching corbels, field-fit scribing to an uneven stucco firebox, and a three-coat hand-rubbed oil finish.
Fabrication and installation
Milled from a single slab rather than glued-up stock, corbels shop-fabricated to match the slab's grain
The stucco firebox face was not flat, so the mantel back was scribed on site to close the gap rather than filled with caulk.
What the detail solved
A glued-up mantel would not have shown the continuous live edge the homeowner wanted along the front face.
Corbels were shop-fit to the slab before finishing so grain direction reads as continuous across the joint.
