Alder Box Beams, Peoria (Vistancia)

Four decorative box beams for a vaulted great-room ceiling in Vistancia, stain-matched to knotty alder cabinetry and lagged into the trusses.

Stained wood beams in a grid across a white ceiling with a recessed light

Representative example of this type of work.

Scope of work

Layout of four hollow box beams across an angled vault, shop fabrication in knotty alder, stain matching to existing kitchen cabinetry, and installation with concealed lag screws into the roof trusses.

Fabrication and installation

Hollow box construction over a mitered face frame, built in the shop and field-fit to the vault angle

The vault ceiling is not a single plane, so beam layout had to follow the true roof geometry rather than a flat measurement. Truss locations were confirmed before layout was finalized.

What the detail solved

The existing cabinetry had a distinct stain color that a stock beam finish would not have matched.

Beams are decorative, not structural. They carry no roof or ceiling load and are mounted for appearance only.
