Field measurement of a 9-foot alcove, shop fabrication of a bench carcass with a solid bench top, hooks, cubbies, and a shoe drawer, and on-site scribing with trim integration to the existing baseboard profile.
Fabrication and installation
Shop-built carcass with a panelled back, field-scribed to the alcove walls
Alcove walls were not exactly parallel, so end panels were scribed on site rather than cut to a single measurement.
What the detail solved
An off-the-shelf bench would not have filled the alcove without visible gaps.
Drawer runs on full-extension hardware sized for the shoe drawer's load.
